We took a little blog hiatus over the summer, friends, but now we’re back! And since we’re super-excited to share what we’ve been up to lately, we’re going to jump right in with a topic near and dear to our hearts – home accessories.
At Fairhaven Furniture, it’s a year-round project to stock the gifts and accessories department of our New Haven furniture showroom with unique finds that resonate with our customers. After all, every piece you bring into your home should tell a story, no?
One of our favorite places to find new accessories is the New York Now Gift Show, an incredible event that showcases the best home decor, gifts, and lifestyle products. We never miss a year, and our time there this month was especially fun and inspiring. The new finds we picked out will make their way to our store over the course of the fall – we can’t wait to share them with you!
First up, we stopped by Little Bee. Based right here in Connecticut, Little Bee makes eco-friendly, hand-poured candles with 100% pure beeswax from their family-run apiary. With a subtle honey scent and gorgeous natural texture, these votive and taper candles make a beautiful gift for any occasion.
We also fell in love with Gingko Design’s Smart Book Light. These laser-cut books are made of walnut or maple… and they hold a surprise. Open the covers, and the book transforms into a sculptural light! It’s an ideal accent piece to bring some glow and dimension to a beautifully styled bookcase.
Conscious Step socks have been a store favorite for years. Each pair of these cozy socks supports a specific cause, from providing clean water to protecting endangered animals. Plus, they are sustainably and ethically made from 100% Fair Trade, organic materials. Fun designs and meaningful messages make these socks perfect for folks who want to make a statement, while keeping their toes warm.
It may seem early, but summer is the time we start planning our orders for holiday accessories. This year, we’re excited to add Be Home’s charming paper Christmas trees to our holiday decor lineup. Available in several sizes, styles and colors, these eco-friendly decorations add a whimsical touch to a festive display – and are sturdy enough to enjoy year after year.
We’ll leave you today on a fun note. New York Now always has incredible products that aren’t quite right for our store… but they sure do make us smile. This visit, we got a good chuckle from this line of sandwich-shaped purses and pouches – don’t they make you want to take a bite?
